More of my anti-election propaganda

This is from a handout I picked up somewhere called “Lesser-Evilism.” If anyone wants to take credit for it, let me know and I’ll be glad to give you your kudos.

“Upcoming are the next presidential elections, which many hope will bring regime change. Some of us, however, see the elections as nothing more than an inartistic theatrical performance in which tycoon puppets mouth off fake promises competing for the role of star puppet. Why? Because no matter what the outcome of the elections, the government’s role will still be to uphold the current system of capitalism, to hold onto and to try to increase the wealth of this country–which is inevitably at the expense of poor people and less developed countries and at the expense of a dying ecosystem.”

“It’s time to wake up to reality. Unless we overthrow this system based on material greed, war, exploitation, and the destruction of nature, and unless we all work together to establish a just, rational and ecologically conscious international movement, we are still in the same sad predicament.”

“Ultimately, we are faced with a choice between two similar parties, equally committed to capitalism and U.S. imperialism.”

“For those who want to build an alternative to the corrupt capitalist system, there is never a ‘good’ time to work for that alternative. Do we keep waiting until the next election? Or is there a need for something else? A strong movement for social change is the only realistic way that the capitalist war-machine will be stopped. The essential time to work for that change is NOW.”

[Here is a fun graphic of a voting machine with the choices A) Tyranny, B) Despotism, C) Police State, D) Oligarchy, E) Authoritarian Regime, F) Dictatorship, G) Fascism, H) Totalitarianism, I) Military Junta.]

Don’t vote and the choice is theirs. Vote and the choice is theirs.
