Some Days, All You Can Say is Thanks
These are the days when problems you’ve been obsessing about seem to solve themselves, when you work effortlessly with people you love and respect to accomplish something important in the world, when you can put aside your own pettiness and ego-driven obnoxiousness for the greater good–which is the same day that your heart is breaking because you’ll never see someone else that you love ever again and even though it’s been a while, some days it feels like yesterday, and all you can do is hope that if she’d had the chance she’d have told you something like this:
You must be who you are
You will find your way through
Though you still fear the dark
Let love come to you
You can trust in yourself
And love yourself true
I will be with you
I will be with you

**For the less fortunate non-Spanish-speakers:
Thank you to Life, that has given me so much
has given me laughter and weeping
thus I distinguish between happiness and grief
the stuff that makes up my song
and the song of you all that is the same song
and the song of everyone that is my own song.
Thanks to CL for the Emma’s Revolution song and Joan Baez for covering Violeta Parra on “Gracias a La Vida”
