Something’s Wrong With This Picture
No, not this picture, it’s kinda pretty, isn’t it? YL took it. (She’s a wicked good photographer.) The wrongness lies in the fact that it is February, and I am leaving the warm and sunny Southwest (today’s high: 57 degrees) to go to Maine, which may be my natal homeland but nevertheless is cold and wet and slushy. Alas, I didn’t think of that when I bought the ticket. Not to mention that YL came here in July, when you could fry an egg on the pavement for fully half of every day. So I guess I owe it to her to suffer a little chill and disgusting precipitation. Note to self: In future perhaps we could reverse our visiting schedule, though; it only makes sense for her to escape a dreary Northern winter and make some vitamin D, and for me to escape the sizzling Albuquerque summer for the opportunity to splash around in pristine Maine lakes.
