The Latest Rag

Golly how I love it when other people agree with me. This is a quote from John Stoltenberg’s talk at the Dworkin Conference, which is posted over at another radical feminist:

Andrea was so strong that even when women were being shits to her, she was in solidarity with people called women. That was harder on me to watch women be shits to her, it kind of messed with my whole idea of what feminism was, but I kind of learned - yeah that’s what happens when you have that kind of uncompromising solidarity with women, other women don’t like it. It becomes a rebuke, it becomes a chastisement, it reminds them of their own deal made with male supremacy in a way they cannot tolerate and so they take it out on the one who reminded them of that.

Golly, I’m just quoting men left and right these days, aren’t I? Well, John gets a pass for being so good to Andrea–not to mention his own incredibly principled work on deconstructing masculinity. The male entitlement trolls should take every page out of his book–and read them.

And about the blogroll thing, golly, will y’all stop writing me to say, “Was it something I said?” It’s so great that you all care, and so sad that we’re all so quick to think we did something wrong. Suffice it to say that the situation has been discussed, remorse has been expressed on both sides, and all is well and peachy in radfemland. And, because of this awareness of how easy it is to think something’s about you when it isn’t, I am sitting on my panic that another blogger, whom I love dearly and is having a bad day, is taking what I wrote yesterday personally, when it wasn’t really about her at all. If she is, I hope she writes to me so we can talk about it. Heh. We’re all such well socialized females, even the big fat hairy dykes.

My conclusion on the blogroll issue is not to have a blogroll for now. I’ve taken down the whimsy too, because even though I adore The Workshop of Love (for me!), whimsy is hardly radical, so how can I justify keeping it while canning links to great radical feminist blogs? I decided that when someone writes a kick-ass post (and I know you all will) I will just link to the post directly.

Golly. (Golly, that’s a record four times in one post.) What do you think of the variegated spa cloth? It’s Butterfly mercerized cotton from Greece knitted on a #8 circular needle. The yarn was on sale, so I also got it in this color combo:

If the shower doesn’t wake you up, the colors of the washcloth sure will!
