Sandia Mountains: Rugged and rocky under a blue cloud-studded sky, across a yellow meadow

I’ve decided to give myself a little break from blogging. I’m going through a moral crisis or something, and I don’t have anything useful or productive to say. To those of you who’ve written me, thanks, and if you haven’t gotten a personal note yet, you will soon; not blogging will free up all sorts of time that I can put to good use digging out my inbox among other chores–little things like earning a living, you know. All the stuff that’s all too easy to neglect until, oh shit! The bank balance is in the toilet, the dishes are piling up, and my neck muscles are twanging like piano wire from paying far too much attention to other people’s business.

In the meantime, though, please enjoy these photos of the Sandia Mountains, taken from the volcano park up on the west mesa last weekend. Yes, it’s full spring here, and of course many delightful things come along with that–flowering trees, warm sunshine, daffodils. The least delightful, of course, being the city’s roach population, certain members of which stagger out to die on the kitchen floor each morning. But hooray for biological diversity, right?

And the mountains are pretty. You’d never know that there’s a huge city down in that there hollow between them and the camera.
