Don’t Steal My Shit
You may have noticed I’ve started putting the little copyright whooseywhatsis on my photos and stuff. I hate doing that. It’s extra work, it’s ugly, and for the cool graphics I design, too often I think it detracts from the overall effect. Plus, you know, I hate The Man, and it galls to resort to his tactics to protect my work, like a dog pissing on a fire hydrant.
Unfortunately, of late I’ve noticed my stuff turning up very far from home, with nary a mention of its source or authorship, let alone a frickin thank-you. As someone who’s pretty lazy but nevertheless proud that some of her photographic and design efforts have turned out quite nice, well, that goes up my ass a mile. Everything on this blog is copyright MOI*. I’m happy when folks like it enough to quote me briefly elsewhere–and by brief I mean a few lines, NOT an entire post. I despise the form of blogging whereby popular bloggers routinely fill up their sites with huge chunks of other bloggers’ work, instead of driving internet traffic to us lesser-knowns via brief mentions followed by well-deserved links. Lazy as I am, I won’t do that, and I don’t want you to do that with my stuff either. So take heed.
*Except, obviously, when I quote from print publications, and Kya’s writing.
